It's been stated a few times that Jared is a better swordsman than Connor, yet every time someone senses something from the two of them, it's always from Connor. Plus, Jared has had issues making the sword work despite his Shamanic heritage, whereas Connor hasn't ever had that issue. What's more, every time the demons got out before, there was only one guardian. This has led me to wonder whether or not Jared really is a guardian. So...is he?

Jared is very much a guardian, as is Connor. That there's two of them is dependant only on that they were both there when Kageohime was released. As such, Gramps felt comfortable dividing the swords between them, although he did so in a very specific manner...

Which leads to an issue with the swords anyway. Connor, being very down-to-earth and logical, is able to easily access the power of his sword. Jared is a little more freewheeling, and simple concentration isn't always enough for him to tap in. A strong emotional focus is usually needed (anger in issue 2 and fear for Connor's life in issue 7). As he uses the sword more, its power will become second nature to him.

As far as anyone sensing things from Connor... well, I don't want to give anything away.
